Shipments of Russian–Chinese CR929 jet may begin after 2025

ZHUKOVSKY, Moscow Region, Aug 27 (PRIME) -- Deliveries of the Russian–Chinese CR929 passenger plane may begin after 2025, Chief Engineer of the project Maxim Litvinov told reporters on the sidelines of the MAKS-2019 airshow on Tuesday.

“(Shipments are scheduled) for after 2025,” he said, adding that test flights of the plane may begin in 2023.

The prototype of the aircraft will be presented to Russian, Chinese and Serbian air companies, including national flagship carrier Aeroflot and charter carrier Azur Air, on Wednesday, he also said.

The plane is 22 meters long and 5.9 meters wide, and it will be capable of carrying 250–300 passengers for up to 12,000 kilometers. The two countries plan to implement the CR929 project by 2025–2027, and the project’s cost is estimated at U.S. $13–20 billion.
